Get Over It

Get over it, it’s the past

the looks, the whispers in the trees

we don’t want to talk or see the bruises

the cuts, the slices, as she runs naked in the street

Closed eyes and fear

shut out the screams the wind brings

we don’t want to listen or see the blood

that streams from broken bodies on the floor

Just laugh and carry on

Nothing has happened to me

If she would just get over it

and leave me to my peace
